I do love a good challenge, so when Shop Tool Boxes contacted me about participating in a toolbox challenge, I was excited to jump on board. I had an idea in mind before I even selected the toolbox I was going to use in this challenge. I settled on this. It's under $40 and looks great with my decor.I ended up finding a fun pair of birch and fur ice skates to put inside as well as some greenery from Hobby Lobby. You can also cut fresh greenery to include in your tool box as well. You can use this toolbox as a centerpiece, on your porch or under your tree.Once the holidays are over, you can continue to use this toolbox for holiday decorating.

Simply remove the winter decorations and swap them out with some other seasonal decor. I'm ready for the holidays, how about you? After much searching, I fell in love with. It looked sturdy, vintage, and just look at these 5 deep compartments. Now what to do with it?Since it is fall and I have campfires on the brain, I decided I needed a s'mores caddy!

The deep compartments hold large mason jars perfectly. If you can't find large mason jars, smaller wide mouth mason jars will also work.Directions: Just fill with your favorite s'more ingredients- graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars, and a personal favorite of mine is fudge stripe shortbread cookies. The last compartment I filled with essentials such as napkins, wet wipes (for sticky fingers), and matches.I love how my s'more caddy turned out! It was so simple to make and now I can easily carry all my s'more ingredients to the campfire at once! Everyone's familiar with a tool box. You probably have a metal one sitting in your garage right now, filled with an assortment of screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, nuts and bolts, pliers, and who knows what else, right?

Or maybe you have a plastic tool box that you use for organizing craft items or Legos.I decided to think outside the tool box and use one in a decorative way. I chose to upcycle into a beautiful fall planter! This tool box is 5.25' deep, so I started by lining the bottom of the tool box with plastic grocery bags as filler. You could also use crumpled newspaper.I then gathered a bunch of fall items to use as my base - real and faux mini pumpkins, gourds, pomegranates, pine cones, small rattan balls, and glittery leaves. I started playing around with the arrangement, layering items on top of the plastic bags until it was visually appealing.Stepping back, I could see the tool box needed something else to fill the space between the top of the box and the handle.

I removed the glittery leaves and instead used faux branches that I tucked into the box. I like how the leaves fill the space, drape around the handle, and add a touch of greenery.I can use this fall arrangement on my porch to welcome family and friends. Or indoors on my foyer table.Since this arrangement is easy to move around using the handle, I'm going to use it in the middle of my table on Thanksgiving as a centerpiece. It reminds me of a cornucopia of goodness. Overflowing with the bounty of the season. Things we love at Salvage Sister & Mister: Thinking of things in a whole new way.

What creative idea would you use this gorgeous took box and cart? I'm so excited to share with you today all about how I took your average antique styled toolbox and created a beautiful flower box. I absolutely love how it turned out and it's such a statement piece that can be used in multiple ways for decor.I started with this. I wanted to give it a whitewash look and thought I'd try out a simple method to create that style.

I went shopping for materials around my home to get ready to give it a whitewash look. I went with an antiquing paint (chalk paint), sponge brush, scraper and spray paint.I started by taking the toolbox outside and used a white spray paint to spray inside of the compartments.

They didn't need to look perfect as the flowers were going to cover it but I didn't want any brown to show through. I just wanted to mask the area to keep it looking similar. The toolbox soaked up the paint so it gave it a weathered look inside naturally.I gave it a while to dry and then brought it inside to finish the outside of the toolbox. I painted one side of the toolbox with the chalk paint.

I made sure to cover the entire side of the toolbox. As soon as I painted the entire side I then used the scraper to scrape the paint off. I love the weathered look it gives and the white paint that remains really soaks into the grains of the wood. After each side of the toolbox was painted and scraped I then used the sponge brush to paint the edges of the toolbox.

I lightly painted those areas and made sure not to do complete coverage. After the paint was dry I put 5 small vases into the compartments. I picked them up at my local dollar store.

I then went outside and picked some hydrangeas from my front yard, filled the vases with the hydrangeas and the old toolbox/new flower box was brought to life!It can be used as a centerpiece for your table or as a decorative item throughout your home! It's a beautiful piece to add to your daily decor!Thank you to Shop Tool Boxes for having me and letting me share how I upcycled the 5 compartment toolbox!
